What is Black Out Poetry?

Black Out Poetry is a fun, easy and creative way to engage with poetry. It involves taking a page or section of text and 'blacking out' words until you are left with a short poem. The page is then decorated to create a unique piece of artwork.

What will we cover?

Week 1. “Unspoken Truths”  What haven’t you said? What needs to be heard? You will create blackout poems from texts about identity, personal experiences, or societal issues. You will be invited to think about things you wish you could say — to yourself, others, or the world.

Week 2. “This Is Me” Reclaim your story using blackout poetry to reflect on your identity, background, or lived experience
